Hi All
I am trying to prise open the red tailgate braking light until to change the bulb but it is not responding to treatment. Does anyone know how to do this without breaking the unit? I assume there is a bulb in there somewhere - the manual is not very helpful.
Thanks
Nigel

Hi Nan,
It's easy and it doesn't matter which bulb you are changing.
the brake bulb on the wing is accessed from inside the boot on both sides of the rear wing is an access panel, remove that and at the rear of the wing is the light cluster held on by a plastic type nut unscrew same and a presto the light cluster is freed.
the brake light on estate boot lid also has an access panel remove that and you have access to light cluster to replace bulb.
Good luck

Hi Nigel,
It's far from obvious on an estate
On the side you wis to replace, open the side cubbyhole cover in the cargo area and then find the two black plastic wingnuts in the rear of the cubbyhole. Undo them completely and fold the rear of the cubbyhole trim down and then put your arm in and feel for the wingunts on the rear of the light lenses. Undo these wingnuts, being careful not to drop them and loose them.
The whole rear light assembly will now draw forward from outside. Clip the bulbholder assembly out of the lens and replace the bulb.

Thanks Kenny and Jim - I am ok with the side brake lights - it is the light unit at the top of the tailgate that is causing me grief. I have taken it out of the car - and now need to work out how to access the bulbs.

Ahh, sorry Nigel!
They're LEDs in an estate so they should never go and thus the unit is difficult to open... There is a series resistor (green tubular thing) that may go open-circuit but it's unlikely.
If all LEDs are out, it'll more than likely be a break in the wiring within the concertina by the RH tailgate hinge.
