thanks to all for information
just to say thanks to all who posted information that helped rectify our problem with our 95 xantia 1.9td. when buying the car it worked for a week then died...every time we started it churned wouldnt start,we changed the alternator but nothing wrong with it,we changed the battery still nothing.it sounded like a flat battery but wasn't. after reading a post on here i proceeded to check the battery earth. i new battery terminal and a wire brush later the xantia again starts first time every time.not sure if it was the battery terminal or earth from battery but whatever it was its sorted now.purrs quite nicely now, unfortunatly my partner hates driving says its massive....cant cure that with a wire brush...but thanks to all anyway

It may seem big at first. Depends what your partner is accustomed to.
I changed from an Accord to the C5 and the C5 seemed far bigger. I'm used to larger cars too. It soon became easy and a pleasure to drive.
My daughter thought the BX estate was the size of a bus at first but very quickly got to like it.
Try hanging on to it as long as you can, give it time for familiarisation.
Glad to hear that you have at least had some positive results from your time here.

You soon get used to it though. Only took me a couple of days.
My youngest daughter drives a SAAB 900 2.3 cabriolet that is as long as the C5 and has crap vision at the rear, she manages without any problems at all and can thread the C5 through the eye of a needle.
Her last car was a 106, too weak and girlie for her

Our C5 estate was traded in for a smaller car (a Xantia!) as the owner found it too big for them after they had owned a number of Xantias before this C5. Unfortunately the bumpers have been used to find the corners of the car at some point, only slightly mind. It does have rear parking sensors, which lie at times but do make reverse parking so easy.
By todays standard the Xantia is an easy car to park, as its ends are more insight than most newer cars.
A C5 is a doddle to park .... once you have driven an Xm that is. Although the C5 feels a bigger car to sit in than the Xm, mainly because of its extra width and higher roof, its actually a bit smaller than the Xm hatch is. The Xms bonnet is far longer and far less visible than that of the C5. That and the fact it has a slightly longer front overhang than the C5 and it makes it a more challenging car to park, especially swinging into parking spaces.
I guess like any car you get used to things, judging the ends of your car becomes a sixth sence and you do it without realising, i often park so close i dont know how i do it

What an excellent idea, that would also solve our parking issues I wonder if the Saxo does the steering and the Xantia does the drive ... as per TopGear 8)
I have not damaged any of them, hopefully they will stay that way
