Xantia Folding Rear Seats

Post by hilldweller »

Hi All,

I have a 98 Xantia estate (1.9td) but unfortunately it didn't come with a handbook.

I could do with putting the back seats down to fetch some furniture in it, but the bit you sit on doesn't seem to come forwards very far. Should it? I don't want to yank it and break it. :D

Ta

Do you not have to lift up the front of the seat base and pull that up slightly, then it should lift up all of the way, so you can fold the rear of the seat behind it.

Lift the front edge of the bit you sit on straight up, then pull the back edge up and forward to rotate the seat forwards.
Then you can drop the seatbacks down.
It helps to move the front seats forward a bit, and also remove the rear headrests.

Press/squeeze the button on one of the bases.

Examine the plastic collars pressed into the seat cushion fabric, that surround your headrest rods. There's a small tab on one of each pair, that you push sideways to release the catch pawl.

Cheers, Adam.
