xantia price rises

Post by spigven »

Just fitted replacement seats and steering wheel to the Xantia 1.9 TD (never had a car before where the Steering wheel wore out). Ended up buying from Wolsey House Motors who delivered over the wwekend. The chap who did the delivery commented that a year ago a tidy 1.9 TD would make £300, but now they are selling for £1000.

Very happy with the seats, steering wheel and the service by the way.

I think more people are learning that they're actually excellent cars for their age (I too noticed a P reg up the road from me going for £1000), cheap to maintain and of course the 1.9TD can run on veg.

I dont think they gone up significantly in value, but a well cared for example (capable of svo/wvo use!) has to be worth £5-600.

I sold my TD for £550, i could have got more but this would have taken time. Its going to a good home which to me is important. I may even regret it when it goes, if diesel shoots up in price!

Best car for the money, full stop.

The same Wolsey House Motors who wanted 5 or 6 grand for an XM not so long ago?

I wouldn't take much notice of anything they say - car buyers on their planet obviously have a lot more money than the ones on planet Earth

One thing to always remember is the golden rule of car sales....

It is worth what someone would be prepared to pay for it

Me personally, for a spanking TD with circa 100K on the clock and no problems i would stump about £800 tops.

Perhaps a little too much for some, but it depends on how you value what your buying.

The 6 grand XM I remembered got me searching...

Those guys had it for sale in Feb 2007, but lo and behold, the same one is still on ebay two years later for 5 grand (albeit with a SOLD SOLD SOLD! tag)...

Funny that they also have two Xantia TDs on the bay for - you've guessed it - a grand each.

This one is so similar to my 2.1TD Estate (except mine's a late MK1 with leather).

Makes me think it's worth £1500 minimum 8)

Its only the XUD's that are going for good money as the veggie crowd are buying them up. If you look about the same goes for Pugs and the 106's with bosch pumps as well.
If you have a HDi its not worth much once the miles are piled onto it...
I got mine in November for £550, added a few k to it and now sold for £356.....

Oh well  That must knock a grand off my 2.1TD then

How much a 2.1TD with a Bosch conversion I wonder...

Easily over the £900 mark with the history of yours, thoughy being white knocks it back down a bit but if it had the bosch bits on it it would sell quite easily at the end of this summer i would imagine as SVO prices are already falling and can only go lower as the stocks go up.
