The one on ebay looks good enough for a punt at £199 but then i'd still have to find a leather trim(hens teeth per chance??)
Leather turns up quite frequently, and many XM's have it although im told it comes in different grades, one of which isnt actually leather  , Xmexc would be able to tell you all about this but i think last time CXM went down and we all migrated he said he had forgten his FCF password so watched from the sidelines  .

Couldnt agree more with Andrew's last post, but being a firm Mk1 fan i would
I have driven both 1's and 2's and the way i see it is;

Mk1 pro's

Nicer wing mirrors, front grill, and spoiler
Proper cit dash with single spoke wheel
Electric windows that dont throw tantrums
better brake feel (no spring added into the pedal mech)
More controlable suspension
Underbonnet light  (in some MK1 models)
and while im being petty, boost guage for the turbo's
A dash you can stand stuff on

Mk2 pro's

indexed wing mirrors
less road noise to cabin
ignition switch light
more reliable electrics (from new!, any MK1 thats lived this long will have had the earths sorted by now though)
wind bags and pre tensioners(if you that way inclined)
Newer cars
better visability from the n/s wing mirror
Radio r/c/l so you can unlock the car from more than 6 feet away
2.5 turbo diesel available

Thats all i can think of really although im sure to have missed stuff, like i said each has their stengths

All Xms have hydractive, KP. S1 cars have Hydractive1, which is in sports mode all of the time (when selected) the S2 cars (and late S1 - S1.5) have hydractive 2, which only cuts into sports when its needed.

So you get a comfy ride, but then on cornering it tightens up to give you less body roll and a more involving drive. You dont really notice the change from normal to sport, its seamless. Hydractive makes a big difference to handling, something the 2.0 C5s really miss out on :(

All S2 cars have a drivers air bag, most have a passenger 'bag too. However some early S2 cars did without the passenger air bag. I dont think any S1 cars have air bags though.

Not sure which models got ABS, but most S2 cars do.
I have to DISAGREE about the S1.5's switching into sport modes... I dont think they do at all... ALL need to be forced into spot mode WITH the switch..

ABS was standard an Si and SEi spec cars, SD and SED ...(THIS IS S1 cars to 1994 only) ABS was an Option on base cars but nearly ALL were fitted with it..

NO Air bags on S1 and 1.5 cars, up to 1994.. then ALL S2 cars have drivers bag and passenger an option I THINK.. Im not 100% on S2 cars..

Bosch fitted from about 1993 S1.5 cars to about 1996 S2 cars..

EARLY S1 DERVs had Lucas mechanical from 1990 to about 1993...

ABS was standard on VSX and exclusive cars...

Citroen SORTED Earths from Factory on S1.5 cars from about 1993 onwards.. and I REALLY THINK the S1.5 cars ARE the BEST ones and most reliable ones to have, the L and M reg (IN THE UK) years.. or 1993 to EARLY 1995.... as these have the Mk.2 electrics, in the Mk.1 enviroment!

Its also been noted that S1.5 cars seem to have the Least rust.. UNLESS yur jacking pointsa ARE BENT letting water in!!!

I am quite tempted by a XM V6 but they do seem rare!

I watched a mate have his scrapped last year as he couldn't give it away!!

It was stolen from outside his house for scrap weighing in but intercepted by
eagle eyed Police; he decided to let the car continue being delivered to scrap
by the Police as they stung him recovery/storage fees...

what a rubbish country we live in. :x  :x

Does look really good though, and being serious for a minute these xm estates are unbelievably huge inside.

To my embarrassment I'm currently using my 2.1 TD MANUAL one as a shed
to store loads of new exhaust systems! :?

Needs a late '93 nearside caliper so not going to move until I find one.

This is what an XM estate can do, and would you believe i only had to fold 2 seats down in the back to get that in, i was impressed anyway.
