I think a previous owner has had the same problem and solved it by fitting two RH cables.

Indeed. So which cable do I need? As I say Citroen list a £17 one and a £51 one? How can there be that much difference between two cables. I just don't want to get the wrong one

It's all down to supply and demand Toby, there is less demand for the long LH one so it's more expensive :(

Quintin Hazell (QH) do the LH cable far more reasonably and any decent factors should be able to get you one.

It looks a cheap and nasty thing but I have on on my 2.1TD and it's doing a fine job and it has for the past year or so.

I'm only up posting at this time of night because an extended power fail brought the forum database server down

What I mean is Jim - when I pop my VIN into Service Citroen, it brings up the following:

4745 H5 - HANDBRAKE CABLE LEFT LONG 1295

4745 G6 - HANDBRAKE CABLE RIGHT LONG 1335....this one is the £51 one

E 074 005 - BRAKE CABLE RIGHT....this one is the £17 one

It seems the RH cable is the longer cable at 1335? Why is one over £30 more expensive?

Got me properly confused :?
I think I shall phone up the stealer tomorrow and try to find out. I need to go down there anyway to get a new disc securing screw.

I've looked up brake discs and pads recently and it's the same story there. I don't know why that should be. Maybe it depends who's buying.

Ok, another quick question. How do I adjust the new handbrake cables once I have fitted them?

And one more question

How are cables secured in the battery clamps? Are they soldered in or crimped? I need to get another one and would prefer the end feed type that are fitted as standard rather than the type that most places seem to sell.

They're crimped Toby and a right devil to replace as they often have multiple wires crimped into the same feurrle.

Xac used some fancy Chavvy Barryboy ICE ones to replace his when they broke. They were ideal as they have multiple cable outlets of varying sizes along with screws to accept crimp termainals.
