Key Fob

Post by Scottpr »

I have just had to replace the battery in my Key Fob.
I believe I have to reprogram the fob after this?
I have tried the only procedure I can find on here (Put key in ignition, turn ignition on, hold Lock key for 5 seconds, remove key from ignition, leave 5 seconds and press lock again) However this didn't work for me, tried it a few times but nothing happens!

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there another way of doing it?

You could try

Hold for 5 secs, press twice, key in holding button and start.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Tried that but still nothing happens!?!
Would it need to go to the dealer to get it reprogrammed?

You could take it to a dealer but they would probably charge you a minimum of £15. There will be a method but I'm not really clued up on C5's. If you do a bit of searching on the net you may well come up with the answer.

Did it work before replacing the battery ? If so is the battery the right way around ?
Best method is switch the ignition on & keep pressing the lock & unlock buttons alternitively for 10 seconds, remove the key fron the ignition (if you have any other remotes repeat this procedure with them at this point) & shut the door, wait 1 minute & dont open any doors or press the remote during this time, after the 1 minute lock then unlock the drivers door with the key , open the door & close it then try the remote. If this doesent work remove the shunt fuse (marked SH) from the interior fusebox for a few minutes refit it then retry. If that fails then is off to the dealer im afraid.
