Couple of questions....

Post by vince »

Apologies if ive asked these before ? :P

1, My side rubbing strips (door trims) are not sat flush, how do i remove them and refit?

2, My heater is stuck blowing hot air, the slider control works but although i can get the heat to turn off from the centre vents, the floor, windscreen and side vents still blow hot air. The blower speed control still works fine, its just the temperature.....solution?

The door trims simply pull off, slide some packing tape behind them to help pull them away.

As for the heater problem, does your car have A/C?

Hi Richard,

When you say pull off, are they stuck on? if so when they are pulled off do they tend to bend requiring more adhesive to stick them back on again? or are they clipped in?

And no my car doesnt have A/C

P.s. I was at Paris Autos yesterday and was looking through an old stack of the Citroneon. They had the march 2005 issue which was when you first took over the Xantia section. What i found strange was, in the profile picture you have now you look younger! have you been watching that show....10 years younger?

The rubbing strips are held on by kinda mushroom-shaped plastic clips.

You'll almost definitely break some getting the strip off - new ones are only a few pence each so buy a bag of them before you start :D

As your car doesn't have A/C then I'd suspect that the temperature cable securing clip may have become detached, either that or a temperature flap issue.

That first photo was a quick cut and paste from a photo taken at Madam Tussauds with me standing next to Humphrey Bogart

A VSX should have climate control, part of which is A/C.... :? Does it have numbers on the temp scale, rather than just graduated blue to red? If so then most likely the motor in the temp sensor in the dash has given up the ghost.

Err that's not right Richard, climate was initially an extra on all models then made standard from 96 onwards for SX (and IIRC LX) models upwards.

I stand corrected then  Surely a 96 VSX would have A/C as standard though?

Of all the extra's a VSX had over a SX A/C wasn't one of them, when A/C became standard it was across the range and wasn't for specific models.

I was surprised to see early VSXs did not have leather seats as standard.
