Xantia front Hydractive Sphere Changing

Post by allmond »

Hi all
Now the Forum is up and running again, can I repost this to see if there are any takers?
I tried to change the front centre Hydractive sphere on my Xantia the other day. I put my trusty home-made sphere-removal tool on it, gave it a bit of a twist, but it started to bend the mounting bracket so I stopped. I know from looking at the sphere, this isn't a standard suspension-type sphere.
Does anyone have any experience of changing one of these spheres?
Anything I should know before I have another go?
Thanks
Jamie

Hi
I changed mine late last year. Nothing I tried would budge it till I got the proper tool. I know what you mean though, it seems you are going to the front off radiator and all but I put caution to the wind and it did eventually undo without any other damage.
Go for it!
