C5 Spark Plugs?

Post by andydykes »

Bought some spark plugs as car stutters a bit when cold and under load in low gear. Fine a higher speeds.

Just looked under the bonnet for what I thought would be a quickish job. Where are they hiding and what needs to be removed to change them. Car is a C5 1.8LX.

The plugs are fitted on top center of engine in deep plug wells between the 2 cylinderheads.
They are hidden under a plastic lid, which happens to be your ignition coil module.
This must be removed and the extension connectors recovered before you can access the plugs.
You will need a deep offset socket with a rubber insert to remove the plugs.
Much the same type as used for the reknown BX era XU engines.

Clean the extenders and the ignition module, then wipe them over with silicone before refitting. That eill keep out start problems caused by humidity.
