Fairly ambivalent about that. Can't see why they would want to mess with the original but that is marketing departments for you.

It's all because of this:

Every car comes with a DS inside!?

I like the wheels - setting the hub back and then bringing the centre hub slightly
outwards is quite effective - looks like the heart of a flower!!

What's the feeling about the B pillar? Melted snow effect!?

First thing that strikes me when seeing the pictures was, a Mini with chevrons.

Judging by the enthusiasm for them, this can't be a bad thing commercially
- so whilst not badged as a BMW, the new "Lexus" range for Citroen may be
needed why call it DS series though!????

Quoted from www.worldcarfans.com

"Clearly Citroën is moving up a class to differentiate itself from PSA sister brand Peugeot. The
company will return to its quirky, avant-garde roots as far as technology, innovation and design
are concerned. As part of the transformation, smaller cars will get less attention while customers
and dealerships will get more, and Citroën would become a sort of French luxury brand."

Interesting as I recall an interview with the new Citroen company MD who wanted to go back
to it's quirky innovative and technology driven roots as more of a niche model range rather
than competing with Peugeot who would blanket the normal car range requirements and these
concepts like the Airdream/Airlounge/Metisse and GT certainly sit in this end of the scale.

And from what I see from what's been posted the rebranded chevrons don't appear any different
really!! Time will tell if the future looks exciting or bland for us nutter Cit fans!

Even though I don't see the point of an SUV or one as a crossover etc, I like the look of this:

interesting stuff! Has Citroen got it's mojo back then? Many car magazines seem to think so...

Well, as an aside, this is very nice:

You get a free DS? Big deal, you can't play on it while you drive anyway.*

Wheels are nice, but at what price?

Is certainly the best looking 4x4 I have clapped eyes on. Much better than the XC90 that is it's only real rival.

*Oh! That DS

Please tell me that isn't *really* gonna be the badge? Awful link to 'intel inside' and fighting with recalcitrant windoze PC's...

I've taken the liberty of resizing the images lads.

Hadn't noticed before that they were screenbusters on some displays.

Won't be doing that on this computer again for a while. Reloaded Vista last week and it keeps minimising/maximising/resetting all on it's own, constantly. Also selecting links and operations without warning so the intended operation is thwarted.

I don't think it is a Vista problem per se, something to do with the touchpad. It was like it when I bought the machine but "learned" to behave after a few days. Taking longer this time around.

To be honest, how many people in Citroen understand what the double chevrons are?

It's like when Jif returned to Cif, the marketting dept had no idea why it was changed in the first place (cif-ilus).

It just shows how little they actually care about a product.

The first fact that hits you on their new look website is a reference to the
helix gearing. What they're now saying in adspeak is these new chevrons
are more contemporary being more organically formed and flowing whilst
being adaptable to suit the style and character of the car wearing them.

Combine this with a fresh look and attitude throughout Citroen and PSA,
how better the ring the changes and renew itself than rejig its corporate
logo and Market presentation.

Did you contact the marketing department, is that how you found out about their ignorance of their product?

Regarding the playing around with the double chevrons, yes they are probably not aware of their significance, and just see them as something to manipulate, to prove they are doing something else other than robots.

When they went robotic, they didn't change the double chevrons then did they!

While now they seem to have (chev-ilus)!

I'm pretty sure the significance of the chevrons is not only known by the media and PR department, but a core part of their innovative engineering
back to its roots DS Inside heritage stategy currently hitting our TV, press
and web. Wait and see before knocking Citroen when there appears to
be a desire to get back to what we all know and love. Here's hoping it
isn't all just facile marketing!

Very few people that work for Daimler know the story behind Mercedes, likewise with the AA, why the original frying pan logo sprouted wings, and eventually turned into just a square with "AA" in it.
It happens in marketing/business all the time. On the film set of Serenity, some studio bigwigs were heard to say "If this goes well, maybe we can make a TV series from it" and during one of the meetings Terry Pratchett had to get Mort made into a film/animation, he was asked if they could get rid of "this Death charactor"
