Brand new GSF parts catalogue! Eh? :-( OMG...

NO XANTIA parts listed!!! :blink: Total waste of space...

Fancy A5 perfect bound and on new age touchy feely environmentally
friendly heavy paper but I'm shocked by the content, even after the
Porsche stuff has gone elsewhere there's now Skoda and Vauxhall
entries to contend with! Grrrrr

Our favourite Citroen model that must account for almost every GSF sale
from us all here seems squeezed out: where have the spheres gone!!

Grumble grumble moan moan...

At least the GSF on-line shop still has Xantia bits...

Its suddenly come to a realisation, were will be our source of new Citbits?!
After all, we can't keep regassing our current spheres.

Also, if the only current stockist of Activa rams is the main stealer, we've only got a few years until the 10 year parts production runs out.

Time to start a new fund I think for a "Pre2000 Citroen spare parts manufacturing plant"

Of course, theres the Ex GSF guy on here who's just got his job back, can't remember his name

maybe he's heard something?

Kev, exactly the concern that struck me: surely they'd notice a big dent
in revenue were they to stop listing Xantia parts. GSF man - you're thinking
of Vince; maybe he can ask about Xm and Xantia parts for us?

That's all I need to worry about on top of everything else!

No need to hunt me down boys, im usually lurking in the background somewhere.....

I wouldnt sweat the catalogue at all....im back in there next week anyway but last year when i was there the catalogue they produced then only listed about 10% of the company product range.

The way GSF work is simple...if there is demand they will stock it. And spheres and height correctors are always hot sellers. If not then it gets monitored for a year or so then taken out of circulation. They then wait for complaints and either reinstate them or delete them.

Look at it this way:
1, GSF supply most independant french specialists in the Uk. If they need the parts they stock them

2, Did you know that GSF stock original 2CV wheels? or even contact breaker points for AMI's ?

The new catalogue came out just before i left, it is including more "All makes" stock as the company has invested heavily into all makes parts...you have to really to keep in the game with what garages require. They all want a one stop shop...

Failing everything....i know the french parts manager in head office. He can source anything required unless its dealer only.....He can even get strut top mounts for Xantias direct from france. They arent much cheaper than Citroen sourced ones though so they dont bother.....also he doesnt share my opinion that sufficient demand exists.....I might re take up that battle with the new sales director.

I will keep you up to speed with any parts news from the inside but i dont think there is any need to run for the hills just yet

The Xant's only got 1-2 years 2go before it hits the 10 year "ceiling" and they stop manuf parts i think . There's a 51 plate taxi kicking around Lincoln, i can't ever recall another ? .
When i did my strut tops ( oops ! that should be when Citrojim did them i just helped

) i got one NOS from the "mainstealer" in Louth for £46 inc VAT

, he's got a few XM bits as well that he wants rid of as well, he'll do the "old stuff" for half list price . The other strut top i got from "mainstealer" in Lincoln, i did a bit of haggling, and he did that for list less 17% (£89) then plus Vat, he's also prepared to do discount on Xant stuff as well , but not as generous as Louth ..

BTW i saw a K plate 1.6 Xant in Notts last week, that must realy be a rarity !!!!!! ???????

Fatherjack, they may be a rarity around your way but there are hundreds of Xants up here

XM's i will admit you dont see that many around anymore....they are there though....

Dont you find that you notice more of the car model that you drive than you do of other models.....its wierd. Watch it happen if / when you get a new car. They appear out of nowhere.

The XM has been around for 20 years this year and stopped production before the Xantia, a lot of dealers are selling their spares stock on ebay. Although parts for some models are getting difficult, most 2.1 spares seem to still be available.

Must be a rare bird then. Needs a new water pump but goes very well.

Hi Paul,

Yes, the mad tartan seats are actually quite nice; great comfort and
indestructible too. I'll need to check the cars date of registration but it
started life in the ownership of a double barreled named chap in Sudbury
on Thames or somesuch and pampered well which still shows.

I feel awful for not getting back in touch to confirm my situation; in truth
I didn't know where I was with many things myself so wasn't in a position
to make firm plans/promises - as it has worked out, the v6 is probably in
the best hands now in Jim's stewardship.

In truth, with knowing what I do now about the V6, I wish I hadn't
"bottled it" and actually gone ahead in fitting a manual box to your V6 as I
personally think the auto isn't suited to me and spoils an otherwise great
car. I did as much digging about for any/every bit of info on the v6 engine
and gearboxes and was set to buy a manual box and conversion parts but
couldn't work out the clutch mechanism side of it and got cold feet with
having something I wouldn't get sorted against time.

On my travels sourcing any v6 items I found and bought a 56k mile R plate
Exclusive v6 in green complete with all the toys including wood/leather/air
and cruise & sunroof all at a very good price and MOT'd and taxed.
It seems very good on fuel but strangely too anethetised and a world away
from my Activa which for me is a far more rewarding drive. In fact, I'd go
so far as to say I may have made a mistake buying a v6 as my
expectations haven't been realised even by what is a particularly nice
well looked after example of what should be the ultimate Xantia.

Think my father may end up with it. In another 20 years I may be ready
for it! I've been a bit spoiled by many 12v and a 24v Xm which doesn't help; very much like David Hallworth; wonder which of the many V6's he's
got as his fave one!!?

All the best with your prospective replacement v6 Xantia!
