HDi90 Front Brake Pads

Post by KP »

Does anyone know if they really are the same as on the V6 Xantia as im struggling to see how they can justify bigger pads/discs on such a low powered estate and charge £36 a pop for them :(

While I can't answer your question directly, I have a C5 110 Estate and had the brake discs and pads done recently.

The guy who did them (in the "Recommended Garages and Services" section) was quite distressed at the price of the pads which he said were much larger than the usual ones he fits, which led me to believe that the discs/calipers were the same as those on the V6 (C5 but probably Xantia too). He charged me £23 for them.

An HDi 90 estate should be fitted with the 'middle' brakes - eg 283mm discs. Only HDi 110, 2.1 TD, 2.0T and V6 were fitted with the 'big' brakes (288mm). It's not unknown for estates to come with the 'small' brakes though, nor hatches to come with the middle brakes  . It's easy to check if you got the big brakes - look at how the caliper if fixed to the bracket - it's bolted on on the big brakes, fitted with the pin on small and middle brakes. To check if you have 266 or 283 discs, you'll need to measure them!
