2.0 hdi turbo problem

Post by bubber »

Hi all,
This is a 2000 citroen dispatch 2.0 hdi.
Last week the rubber hose on turbo outlet side broke, 3inch split. Repaired that prob but know I have a whistling from turbo ( I think ) when in higher revs.
I did find some oil residue in the pipe when I changed it
Any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated.

Some oil residue in the pipework from the turbo is perfectly normal.

If its whistling more than before the most likely explanation is a pipe may be split elsewhere, or another connection in the pipework perhaps came loose when you were repairing the original problem.

Hi bubber,
some oil is normal. A colleague of mine had the same hose split. Repaired it with an alligator tape, but it held no more than 2 months. The hose have been repaired more times, but finally a new one came inside :-(

Top banana,
Well, I think the lesson here is don't be a cheap skate and repair pipes
Possibly I mat have disturbed other pipes trying to get pipe back on.
Anyway, many thanks for your help and advice, will get new pipe  .
Here's hoping it will be that simple a cure :?
