Xantia brakes nearly solved

Post by pete.fair »

I have just fitted new front discs to my 97 1.9TD Xantia, and solved the judder problem when braking, briiliant, but, I still have a judder at 75ish. The tyres are new and all 4 wheels have been balanced. Im wondering if its the rear discs or possibly a tyre thats not quite round, i've checked for bulges, none found. Any help or ideas would be appreciated..

That does sound like a balance problem. Is the vibration felt through your steering wheel or for the want of better description your bum. Juddering steering will be front wheels out of balance, juddering seat and bum the rear wheels. Either way get a tyre fitter to check the wheel balance again, you might have lost a weight off the rim, they don't usually charge just to check the balance only if they re-balance the wheels. Its very unusual to get vibration caused by rear disc brakes as they are less stressed than the front discs. If the balancing and the discs are OK, then look at your bearings.
