I've just been where all the Xantiae hide!!

Post by andmcit »

Were the entire contingent of forum Xantia drivers in Norfolk this
afternoon? In the space of a few 100 yards in Diss I literally saw about
a dozen very smart clearly cherished cars, one of which an N plated
red Activa!! :P

It was almost too much for me to comprehend as I rarely even see
another Xantia in my part of the world in South Wales these days, let
alone an Activa.

Mind, I didn't see another Xantia for the next 300 miles!!
How about that, weird!? Something in the air?

So. If you're looking for a nice HDi estate, mint early S1 or a V6, start
taking day trips to Diss and lurk in the Tesco's car park with a full wallet!
it'll be worth it!

Would have loved to have seen that :D
The most Xantias I've seen in one place was at Jims when me and Xac popped round

Excellent :D

Once you start to take notice though, it's surprising just how many Xantias are still running around. What is shocking though is the condition some are in. I overtook one the other morning and it was bouncing along like a pogo-stick; the spheres must have been totally flat. The rest of the car looked tidy though.

Anoter Estate I see locally has a duff rear height corrector or a popped link as it's always right down at the back. How do they drive them like that?

I wonder if they have/had a really top-notch dealer in Diss? You often find a rich seam of one make of car in an area immediately around a good dealer.

Lastly, where are all the members on here from Diss?

I'm sure it's around there I spotted a silver Xantia parked outside someone's cottage with a sign in the window saying very clearly "NOT FOR SALE" and rightly so :D

My personal spotting record is three (including the wagon). A sedan behind me at some lights, and another one across the road from it.

Well, you're not going to believe me when I say there was a bluey grey s2
estate in Diss today too!! I'm not making this up but didn't expect many
on FCF to bother about Xm spotting!! When I think about it today, I was
definitely in a real Citroen zone which may very well be due to a good Cit
agency as Jim says; there always seem to be interesting ebay cars located
in this end of the country location which us actually why I was there in the
first place anyway!!

When I went down to Beer (just up from Sidmouth, I didn't go mackerel fishing in a large tank of beer  ) to do some Mackerel fishing a few months back in the Xantia. I had an XM Exclusive in dark green in front of me which was awesome enough, but then a little while down the road I noticed another blue XM behind me  :D I was a very happy chappy, it was very hard to keep my eye on the road
When I eventually turned off I had a glance and the one behind was a VSX :)
I was :D for the rest of the day - just as well, as I didn't catch anything

Busted! :P

There's one less s2 V6 24v Xantia in Diss right now Richard!! 8) 8)

That 56k mile green one on ebay was too much for me to resist!
By god they don't half go well as the countryside can go all blurred
very quickly and the growl is quite indecent too!!! :P

Makes my Xm s1 24v feel a bit overbodied...

<<edit - s1 NOT s2 - too much falling over juice at this late hour!!>>

I am a bit of a sad case really Kev! Compensates for the black Activa failing
it's MOT on a leaking front active ram yesterday; more on this when I have
a proper looksee tomorrow though I've not seen any significant LHM fluid
loss recently - may even be something innocuous (I wish!!)

Hohum, more on this tomorrow!

There does seem to be quite a few Xantias in Norfolk ( i was one of them last year)

They seem to be quite popular, i reckon because of the type of roads there, particulary ones that have a ford, and because of the adjustable height means the Xantia can pretty much get through anything. Apart from them being really tough and not rusting like anything else its age.

Norfolk should have another 2 Xantia's this year if all goes to plan. I wouldnt want to live anywhere else now.
