Wheeler dealers citroen D S Super

Post by Nuneatonrob »

Did anyone see Wheeler Dealers new series last night on Discovery real time?? They went to France and bought a gorgeous 1973 DS Super....They are such amazing cars, i just wish i had the time, money and space to have one in my life.

They did a few things to it, and even managed to source a brand new OEM set of seat covers for it, restoring it to it's original glory....Seems if anyone is interested in a DS it could be a viable much cheaper way into one.

What a car! Sighs

You might well find one sourced from Australia or South Africa, to be worth considering. They're always for sale, mostly roadworthy and frequently with a good dose of hidden rust areas to keep you entertained.

A Dee needs a good dry garage in the UK, or it just won't last.

Regards, Adam.

Hi Rob,

Yep, I saw Wheeler Dealer. Both programms. What a treat and what a smashing looking car.

It's amazing to see how readily available the spares are for the DS.

I recorded it all so I can watch it again over and over.

I think they went a bit over the top in changing the regulator. I'd have thought just a new accumulator sphere would have sorted out the frequent ticking problem. and, they didn't mention anything about fixing the leaks they found on the rear suspension.
Cheers, Kev

Yeah i noticed they didn't mention any leaks after that point...seemed a bit strange...she is a such a lovely looking car....I just think they are so well engineered, with all the 'quirkyness' we all love about Citroens

I too was suprised just how easy it would be to keep one of the old girls on the road in the UK. As i said before though, the lack of a garage, the money and time you would need to invest in such a beautiful old classic such as the DS prevents me from getting one.

.....My beloved old xsara just doesn't cut it as a proper citroen in my eyes.....I am hoping to get myself into a nice late Xantia, to enjoy the brilliance that is Citroen hydrolic suspension.

Long live the DS!!

Cracking car, nice colour, top condition and all for just a shade over £5k.
As Nuneatonrob says it would be nice to have the time, money & space to keep one.
One day...........
