dose anyone know what if any diferances between this VALEO clutch kit (821426) and the corect kit for a P reg 1.8 16V xantia are, as i have a brand new VALEO kit as above which looks very similar, which as far as i can work out is for quite a few of the 1.9D and some of the TDs in various models, they are both the push type presure plates, and the disc splines are corect

Hello Malcolm, did you try the Net to get an on-line catalogue for Valeo? I gave up.
If all the dimensions are the same between the two clutches, I would think the spring tension for the diesel clutch diaphragm would be greater as the torque curve is greater than that for the 1.8 petrol engine. Might be worth checking the splines in the driven plate and the length of the release bearing.
I am sure somebody will have the answer on here.
Is it your own car or a customers? If its a customers, can you risk fitting a non-standard part, as it will affect any manufacturers warranty?
Just as an aside, does your supplier cover labour charges in the event of warranty work? I remember years ago Quinton Hazel used to offer that on their clutch parts, doubt they still do, as they were supplying some rubbish Israeli clutches into the European aftermarket.
Handyman

thanks Richard
i phoned VALEO's techy dep, and they said much the same thing,
as the only diferance i could see is the diaphragm fingers pertrude outwards further that the original by about 5mm, so i suspect the flywheel is a diferant thickness, the disc slides onto the input shaft ok,
dam that means i have to get one in,
i couldnt get VALEO's online cataloug to work either
regards malcolm
ps.
the one i have in stock is VALEO and i aquired it TEA HE
