Blimey, that's an oil free XUD!!

Ref your other thread, no the ORGA number is not on the VIN plate, but you can see it in this photo - on the bulkhead behind the RH suspension top - the code in white is the paint code, the other code in yellow is the ORGA / RP number.

Got it Monday 13th February 1995.

As for the oil freeness... isn't that a leakage on top of the LHM reservoir?

That staining atop the LHM reservoir: "They all do that". I try to keep my car pretty clean underbonnet, yet it still gets that.

Cheers, Adam.

Indeed they do. Activas are worst as enthusiastic cornering slops it out!

The problem can be mitigated a little by maintaining the LHM at the lowest level in the reservoir (i.e the orange "coolie hat" sitting by the lower red ring when the suspension is on high).

Lovely clean engine bay you have Tim :D

To be serious, I'd have thought more body roll would slosh more LHM?

When washing the car, I use a little kerosene and a brush on the "dry" stains, then rinse them with the hose.

Jim, that's how I found it. I don't think the previous owner did anything special about the car - cleaning wise. But you never know, of course.

I guess in time any leaks will make themselves known.

Can I just bring up that question I raised earlier? Ie, there's a big space in the bottom left hand corner of the engine bay... surely there should be something in there? So to be more accurate, I'm referring to the front offside corner of the car.

A 1995 1.9 turboD SX would not need an ECU box because there's no electronic timing control on the diesel pump, no aircon and no Hydractive suspension to worry about.

This Xantia is nice and simple. A good car to live with.

It should also be a little bit quicker than the later 'ECU controlled' version.

A little tweak on the pump fuelling and a slight increase in turbo waste gate tension should be worth a try.
Cheers, Kev

They all do that
Mine’s always been dry like an old bone. :)

Ensure that the rubber seal sits down properly, and that the retaining spring is in place at the back first, then at the front.
Don’t pull it outwards at the front, it’s too hard, but push it down around the catch, then release it upwards.

Just a bit of an update.

I had the car serviced, and the following was done:

Oil filter
Engine oil
Rear brake pads, photo:

Air filter
Fuel filter
Windscreen wiper blade (front)
... and other service solvents etc.

Mechanic's opinion was that it, 'was a tidy car'. That's about it.

So now I can go play!

Expect more questions...

lol!
