citroen cx 1986 25tri petrol non-turbo

Post by redleader »

I have recently had to remove the cylinder head after an inlet valve decided to kiss the piston! Has anyone any knowledge about re-assembling the head. I believe some head bolts have 'O' rings at their bases, am I right in assuming that one of these bolts does not have an 'O' ring thereby allowing oil to be fed to the rockers? Also I am having great difficulty in obtaining a cylinder head gasket set. Main agents can only supply a single head gasket not a set. Also I need some head bolts. Can anyone help?

hello
afraid that neither Citroen nor Andyspares have ever listed a head set for the CX 25i, neither does the Meillor catalogue.
As regards your other query, there is a company called RME (CX Tech) in Cambridgeshire that specialise in CX repairs, and they may be able to assist.
I have a phone number of 01354 656500 for them but no email address.

Dear Jon & Graham -
AFAIR the CX25 engine is the same as the older CX2400 engine drilled up a bit - and modernised on exterior bits.
There should be a fair chance that a CX2400 engine decoke set (cylinder head gasket set) fits the CX25 engine - except for the head gasket. Decoke sets covering the CX2400 engine are readily available.
Commonly these sets are wrapped in clear plastic to instantly recognize correct fittings of bits. Only the eyes of Graham can then instantly compare fitting of the bits to his engine - without unpacking the set.

hello jon, thanks for your reply, if the head gasket set for my 25tri is not available, then perhaps they can be purchased separately, although i have tried the local citroen dealer and they tell me that they are no longer available. Could you suggest anyone who may be able to help. i have tried andyspares, but they can't help. it,s becoming rather a desperate plight now, as i don't want to scrap this wonderful car for the sake of a few parts. last chance saloon then.
I'd try M & C Lockwood
tel 01274-621840
FAX number:01274-610676
they usually have a lot of CX parts and are very good on the older cars.
have you also tried Andrew Brodie in London?

This any help??
http://www.godmachine.demon.co.uk/cx1new.html
Owning CXs the last thing I want to see is another one of these go to "Heaven"
Option 2 is join the CX-L Yahoo list but set the options so that you can read responses when YOU want to unless you like wading through about 100 a day [:I][}:)][:D]

Keep us up to date as to how you get on as from a personal point of view, I'm very interested.

Jon -
AFAIK the Andy CX 2400i headset listed as N11424 should fit [8)]
The valve stem seals - Andy list no N14476 - should also fit [8)]
Graham -
Since I'm convinced these parts fits - I really think you should try your nearest GSF outfit. Should'nt be that expensive to return the goods untouched if no fit.
But you MUST be able to have a direct comparison look - i.e. your CX cylinder head must readily be removed.
