sticky Xantia speedo fixed

Post by 3ps »

A success story.

I browsed on here and found lots of references to the speedo sticking at 50mph/80kph.

The remedy was to remove the instrument cluster and solder some pins.

Well I managed to remove it all but my PCB didn't match up. But I could find 4 similar pins and with a magnifying glass did see some slight damage to one of them.

And it now works!

It took me 3-4 hours to remove, fix and reassemble and I don't really have a clue.

If I can do it then anybody can.

I can't quite find the links anymore but there was a link to a blog on how to do it. It didn't match 100% with what I found but it was helpful enough to allow me to get it done.

This is a really annoying fault that could cause somebody to get rid of the car, what with speed cameras etc so hopefully others will try this fix too.

Thanks!
