Is there a knack to undoing Xantia fuel lift pump feeds?

Post by andmcit »

Pal of mine has bought a new low pressure pump/fuel lift sender for the
tank on his HDi 110bhp and has asked me if there's something he's missing
getting one of the feed pipes off the head of the unit whilst he's tackling it
from above through the aperture under the back seat. One feed apparently
undoes easily but the other has him stumped.

I'm not familiar with any clever connections etc on the Xantiae and Xm
one's I've removed so am at a loss what to suggest to him although I
vaguely recall a late s2 petrol had me going a while back but I did manage
to beat it!

Anyone got any idea or experience with this issue? Wheeler, as you
correctly suggested this was the failure stopping his car the other day!!?

HDI lift pump

Hi, if your pal keeps the side lock release pushed in on the feeder pipes they should pull off with a wiggle. A soft wood knocking stick may jar it free and can be used to free the sender unit securing ring as well. If not try lifting the sender unit and try again. Good luck, just make sure the new pump is fully submerged in fuel before operating.

The feed & return pipe should both come off the same way, squeeze the little white/green tabs & pull the pipes off.
