Whats the name of your car?

Post by deian »

Hi all,

Xac gave me this idea

Just for fun...

If you had to name your car, or if you already have one like someone already does, what would it be?

As I don't have a Cit at the moment, I will disqualify myself from this one, I won't bother naming my bland Micra anyway, who cares. Citroen cars have character.

I will however name my old Xantias, the 2.1td Exclusive I had was called the "Train", the V6 I had was called... erm... "Rottweiler?", no it wasn't really, I made it up just now. Anyway... just say what the car is, with some details that may explain the name, and the name. It could be anything, a name such as Fred, Melissa, Caramel, Bullfrog, Wife, wathever you think it should be called. etc Be careful with swear words. I wanted to call my V6 something starting with B that has 5 letters once.

Let the games begin.

Thanks

The Citroën.

I suppose that shows someone who has poked their fingers into a few marques (although the S1 Silver Ghost remains elusive)!

My cars name themselves.

I've got Cassy and Jenny.
Had Dexter but he now happily lives with Jim.

Before that, I had Mel (my Megane2), and before that Sophie (my Laguna2).

I find the best way to get their names is to go for a long drive and just listen. Eventually you'll hear it, though sometimes you have to listen hard.
I first misheard Jenny and thought it was Gemma!

What's that matron? Time for my pills?

My first Xantia I bought from a friend who could not afford how much gas it used, so I named it 'TragaTraga' after a local commercial in which a cute monster ate everything, including the camera.

The second one was ugly and temperamental, so it was 'Cookie Monster', although its my only car that I seldom refered to by nickname, I mostly called it 'the beige one'.

The third one had a plate starting in 'UR' so it got named 'Ursula'.

My current one is exactly the same as my first one, only a TurboCT instead of a 2.0VSX, so its 'TragaTurbo'.

I sold all of them to friends, so all kept their names... and yes, I have named all my cars.

As Xac has already said, Dexter lives happily with me. he'll always be Dex but it's the only car I've ever had with a name

My others are the "Blue One" and "Red Activa". Previous cars were "Grey Activa" and "Baby Pug" (205GTi) to differentiate from "Big Pug"; my old 405TD.

We're terrible with names. Our cats are Mr. Fluffball (a girl cat actually ) named by my then very young daughter and Ollie, for reasons that now escape us.

Same trouble with our kids. Robyn, because we were sure she was a boy and when she arrived, we had no girls names. Robyn was the name of the midwive who delivered her and as she was born in Australia, we wanted a good Australian name.

Sian we knew was a girl from 16 weeks so we had plenty of time with her. Up until the week in which she was born we were going to call her Lauren and then changed it to Sian after seeing virtually every girl born that week seemed to be called Lauren!!!

Sian is a good Welsh name and pronounced (sort of ) Shan..

Sorry, it all wandered a bit off-topic there

'the tractor'

(mainly due to the loads I lug about, the dodgy fuel, ground clearance, and it's rugged deisel-ness)
