Suspension-accumulator problems

Post by Machra »

I am still having problems with my Xantia rear suspension. (1.9TD 97)
As stated I fitted new spheres, (4x suspension plus anti-sink) + LHM change including filter cleaning.
My car bounces nicely when at rest but is bumpy when on the road. I was wondering if it could be caused by an air lock in the suspension system or the accumulator sphere.
The acc sphere clicks about every 30 secs when the car is at rest. If I push on the car the suspension compensates with the acc sphere clicking continuously for 30 to 40 secs. Then it settles down to the click every 30 to 40 secs.

Have you done the obligatory Citaerobics since replacing the spheres.

Re my other accumulator sphere and hard front problem:
FWIW my local chap re-gassed the front spheres and all seems sorted now. I was a touch disappointed as recon. spheres were put on around 20K ago, so this deflation seems a little premature.
My chap says always replace the acc. sphere as a matter of course due to its key role in the rest of Citroen suspension life (and braking..)
I followed a Xantia up the A1 yesterday which was doing excatly the same. I almost felt like pulling it over and explaining.
