C5 Sat Nav Very very slow...sometimes

Post by Albro »

I have a 2 1/2 year old C5 (New look). Sometimes when I try to enter a town in teh Sat Nav, it goes off for seveal minutres after each letter and the whole process can take as long as 10 minutes to find the town. Once the address has been sued, it will find it again quickly. The issue only occurs with places never before used or not used for a long time but I have failed to find any logic as to why this issue occurs with some places but not most.

Anybody else had a similar experience or better still has an answer?

could possibly be a software problem, pressing & holding either the mode or menu button should show the software version, see if there is a new version available from citroen. It should still be under warranty anyway.

Could it be that your disc drive is spending too long hunting for the information ?

Why not try a CD head cleaner disc in the CD player. Or is it a DVD in the newer C5 ? Mine is a CD.

Either way, it could be greasy finger marks on your disc, or your laser reader may need a clean in the same way that a hifi needs a periodic laser clean.

Hope this is of some help. Kev

(edit: can I still say Hifi these days or am I showing my age ?)
Cheers, Kev
