xsara gear linkage
my 1.9d xsara estate has got a very stiff gear linkage or a least i think that's what the problem is, side to side movement of the gear lever feels ok but when i'm changing say first to second or third to fourth it's very stiff, any ideas as to what the problem is likely to be, the linkage at the gear box end or under the gear stick
Hi Dave -
Could be a number of things :
1) check g/b oil level
2) check clutch pedal height - should be 130-140mm
3) you could have a dry bushing on the intermediate control arm on the steering box. This is exactly the part moving when selecting gear - and not moving when positioning the gearlever sidewards.
