Activa info wanted

Post by XantiaMan »

I would like to know as much about the technical specification of the Activa as possible in particular the engine.

I am reading that the engine was rated at 143bhp, others say 147bhp, and the official figures are 152ps (150bhp), which is correct?

Exactly how much boost does it run and what conditions?

Is the boost kept low in the mid-range to flatten the torque curve?

What compression ratio does it run?

Will the ECU compensate fuelling if boost is raised to the 1 bar limit?

How many people have replace the boost modulator valve and fitted a manual controller?

Are they known for boost dropping with age? Most cars are especially the ones running small boost as the actuator pre-load is so small it doesnt take much for the wastegate to become loose and slow boost build up as a result.

What Turbocharger is fitted?

Has anyone fitted a decat pipe?

Lots of little questions and i've looked on t'net but very little out there.

You probably won't believe this but I saw two BMWs use their indicators today and they even went the way they were indicating. Not just one but two.

You're right, I won't believe it.
Next you'll be telling us you saw some Rover drivers doing the same!

Wow Gareth; did you persuade Jim to sell you his Activa then!?

"I want an Activa" to "Activa 2000" in your signature within a day is
fast work - you must've really wanted one?

LoL well there is a bit of a story to it but i've wanted an Activa for a while (years) and as i wont be doing so many business miles anymore and the difference in price for diesel and petrol for occasional use and long journeys i can almost justify running one.

Jim's (old) car has alot of potential especially in the bodywork department which i can handle and i know if drives well from my test drive on Sunday

 It fell into place a treat really. I'm soon to be the very proud owner of a rather special red MK1 Activa 8) and I'm delighted my old one has gone to Gareth although I have a feeling it'll not stay standard for long! It'll be good to see it looking the part as I'm not really a bodywork sort of person and it will benefit greatly from a bit of TLC in that department.

I have most of the information you need Gareth, I just need to collate it.

I'm guessing Richard is selling Jim his red one too due to the fact he's
now gone and bought a V6 LHD Activa...!

Glad it's all worked out between you all - I'm sure more flesh on the
bones of this story would make interesting reading - not least of which
an English language reference to the kind of questions posed by Gareth
at the start of this particular thread.

I'm still guessing the engine spec of what physically the head has in if for
valves etc if I've snapped a timing belt on my dead blue one etc...

There's a nice looking silver Mk1 Activa on ebay at the minute, check this out:

Anyone know this car? I'm sorely tempted, even if it is at the opposite end of the country to me! :D

Jim, you're not leaving it hanging like this now! What's the story!?

I know Richard has one or even two and had made comments about getting
or converting to a V6 Activa so wondered if there was a bit of a chain
reaction going on here!!

I'm just about to take the plunge with my fifth - yes a red one!!
