Xantia Wiper Linkage

Tonight whilst out driving the Xantia ('93 1.9TD) the drivers side wiper shot off over the lip of the screen. Got the car back in the garage and removed the scuttle panel (and the 5ton of dead leaves and compost contained underneath it!) and the idiot who had it previously has used a pair of elastic bands to hold bottom mounting from the linkage to the small arm with the wiper spline on! Anyway the bottom link is completely detached and won't clip back together. Are these links permanent? They seem to be irrepairable to me. Is my only course of action to source a whole new linkage kit right over to the motor or is there another method?

you have to buy the whole linkage as one (minus the motor) citroen wanted around £75 -£100 odd for it (can't remember was to busy picking myself off floor!)i got a Good S/H one for a £10 a local Scappy
