Citroen C4 AL4 nightmare

Hello,

I have a Citroen C4 2.0L with the AL4 automatic gearbox.

Lately the AL4 has decided to not change into 4th gear anymore and will only go up to 3rd gear. I have only done 60,000kms, so I find this highly surprising.... I had the transmission oil changed at every service with the dealer.

The digital rev counter will show that you are in 4th gear but it won't actually change to 4th gear, it is stuck in 3rd gear and the revs are not representative of being in 4th gear.

I've just gone out of warranty also, so I'm a bit hesistant to take it to the dealers as I've been quoted figures between $15,000 - 20,000 (Australian dollars for a new AL4).

Would anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

I wouldnt dare to bet in on this problem.

Have you tried the ozzie froggy forum ?
You have a large bunch of fellow ozzie froggers with very deep knowledge on Citroens and their peculiarities.
The first thing they can do is to recommand a known well reputed Citroen garage local to you that wont rip you off on any initial fault tracing.
