Pump failure warning signs on Xantia 1.9TD ( 94 Model)
Last week On a freezing day there was a fan belt squeal type noise which disappeared as soon as the system charged up. Later in the traffic jam RED light came up along with lots of green fluid on the road. For chaps with old 1.9TD Xantias please check you three bolts which hold the two halves of the pump together. One of them had sheared. Just at that point the hydraulic pressure managed to create a slit causing the liquid to gush out. Also managed to distort the mating surface, so much that when new bolts were replaced the fluid still managed to leak out. Replacement of pump was the only cure.
