ZX brake balance sorted - day off well spent

Post by N_CURTIS »

Hi all,

Having got an advisory on the front brake balance for the ZX at the last MOT, I decided to tackle the problem today - day off - no rain!

The bottom sliding pin had siezed on the N/S, so I cleaned it all up and re-asembled with copper grease.

I decided to check the O/S and the bottom pin was partially siezed, so sorted that as above.

The bottom one suffers most in the line of duty, but I did notice a couple of small splits in the rubber boot on the N/S one though.

The pistons move freely both sides :D

Is it possible to buy these and the pins separately?

It's a Girling setup by the way.

Cheers

You can get service kits containing all rubber parts for one caliper.
They are commonly in the £6-£10 pricerange.

Pistons may be dealer parts only, and usually expensive (£50'ish)
