C5 external/ambient temperature reading...

Post by frenchcarnut »

...starts of in the morning as -50 degrees rising to a balmy 4 degrees!!!!

As it's only external temperature reading I'm not that bothered but what's the gen on this? Is it worth replacing or too prohibitive financially?

Aircon uses the external temperature information so that will be haywire if the reading is out.

Had the same thing on my C5 a few years back. I can confirm that it makes the climate control do some very strange things

The thermistor lives in the base of the N/S mirror. It's a bit of a PITA to get to, removing the mirror cover itself is best done on a warm day as the plastic is just that bit more flexible and the very fragile clips are less likely to break.

I cut and joined the new thermistor wires onto the old ones, and used some heat shrink tubing to seal the soldered joints. Its been absolutely fine ever since.

Hope this helps.
