An admission of guilt by Citroen, that the reflection of the dashboard onto the screen in certain light conditions was tantamount to downright criminaly dangerous, and as a consequence, and presumably after many many complaints, they brought out this horrendous looking black plastic mat thing to place on top of the dashboard.myglaren wrote:What on earth is a dashmat?
Originally handed out free at first, but I believe they eventually started charging.
Only affected the earlier mk1 versions IIRC, as they changed the colour to a dark grey on the mk2 to eradicate the problem.
I had a very early mk1, and rang Citroen HQ when I came within a whisker from knocking a cyclist off his bike, 'cus I couldn't see him through the dashboard reflection. They didn't seem very concerned initially, as they hadn't received any other complaints at that early stage in the Picasso's life.
Particulary bad when the sun was shining through the trees late afternoons, creating an almost stroboscopic lighting effect.
No idea if the part is still available tbh, but suggest you contact your local Citroen stealer

Get some panel wipe or some other mild degreasing cleaner on it to make it nice and dull and safe again.myglaren wrote:Thanks for the info.
I had visions of something like a table cloth thrown over the dash and obscuring the instruments.
I've probably just dropped myself in the proverbial by cleaning/polishing my formerly very dull dashboard with cabin cleaner.
Looks and smells quit spiffy but if the sun shines...
Screen reflections are still quite a problem on some cars.
The wifes Pug 107 has horrendous reflections of the center dash grill thing when it's sunny. Told her to chuck a pair of her black 'bloomers' over it.
