Xantia HDi Exclusive V's VSX

Post by citroenxm »

Hi Gents, and ladies if any.

Been absent from here for a while, XM things taking up too much time, having 4 all around me needing gearboxes, steerings racks, headgasket swaps etc etc..

No this is not a comparison post for the Two models..

Anyway, I do though, have a Xantia HDI Exclusive in, on a T plate, 1999.. Its a 110bhp which I think all exclusives are..

My question is then Are Xantia VSX Struts the same as the Exclusive struts? As they BOTH use Hydractive?

The Eclusive has a strange and annoying rattle in the top of the strut.. Its NOT a drop link and its NOT a rotten strut top.. its defenatly in the strut ..

IF they are the same, has anyone got a VSX strut?? Exclusive HDi's are thin, even thinner for spares...
Yes I've seen the Silver 2.1 on ebay breaking, but worried nothing may come of it, as it has bids on it..

Thanks for reading

Rgds

Is that a HDi 110 VSX or some other engine? I can't answer your question, but my experience of the HDi 110 has been that virtually nothing at the front is interchangeable with anything else - the track's different, the driveshafts are different (because of the different box), even the discs are different...

It's a bit confusing as it depends on left or right!

Following is for MK2 cars - MK1 cars are even more confusing!!

Right:

5271E8 for all except V6 variants
5271 95 for V6 (including V6 Activa)

Left:

5271 E7 for non hydractive cars and hydractive cars except V6
5271 93 for V6 non-Activa cars only
5271 E9 for Activa cars (not V6)
5271 94 for V6 Activa only

Strut tops are the same for all hydractive cars including Activa variants (but there was a change at RP 08057) - EXCEPT the V6 which has its own tops.

So, provided the strut doesn't come from a V6 if the RH one, or an Activa or V6 if the LH one - it should fit.

EO&E!!!!

Not a slight at you Richard, but surely some of that is bollocks!!

How can you have a strut top that is both hydractive AND
non hydractive - I'm pretty certain there wasn't a 3.5mm
piped hydractive Xantia...

Sorry, didn't make it clear - those are part numbers for STRUTS only - the tops are a different kettle of fish

possibly silly question - do you mean the suspension cylinder when you say struts?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-XANTIA-O- ... 25528074bf

i always thought the struts were metal plates under the tops of the thingy for the spheres to connect to.
why?

Nah; Citroën call them "sphere brackets".
