Seat belt problem

Post by fastred »

Not a problem specific to Citroens, I know, but the drivers seat belt on my Xantia 2000 V6 has lost some tension, with the result that the catch can get caught in the door unless one remembers to give the belt an extra twitch when you get out.

Is there anything which can be done aside from fitting a replacement belt - not keen to do this as I believe it has an explosive pre-tensioning device, to say nothing of the expense.

Buy some silicone spray and pull the belt out to its full extension and lightly spray the full length of the belt that retracts out of sight.
I used some cabin spray from ASDA, only a couple of quid, lasts for a couple of months.

That's pretty much what I was going to say. I just pulled the belt right out and sprayed a little Mr Sheen. It doesn't take much.

Thanks, guys. I found some old Silicone oil spray in the shed and used that - will see how the belt behaves.

The explosive device tensions the buckle arrangement by the handbrake not on the other side.
