now this i promise this is what i found when i lifted the bonnet on the xantia i have just aquired :) :)

i knew it was going to have to be replaced but ive never seen one quite like this before has anyone got any ideas :lol: :lol:

I've heard of them before but not seen one. I think that is a valve that makes recharging easier. They do have a commercial name but it escapes me now.

But don't quote me :shock:

Looks to me as if it is a normal sphere with some sort of charging valve in the top.

There are lots of different types of charging valves about, some available marketed to garages along with a charging rig and some home made.

The trouble with these is that some will just fit any old sphere to the car and simply charge it to the correct pressure for the front, there are a lot of people out there that seem to think that all spheres are the same, well they are all green and round arnt they??

Thats a very errect nipple you have there.

I would worry about leakage (seriously).

It is going to be replaced this weekend but it does look more like a bolt with about a dozen or so washers on it most strange
when it comes off i will take some close up pics may not undo bolt though not that brave :) :)

you see the kit on ebay now and then,
I think it was more popular in France

I used to have the spheres on my BX recharged on the car and they fitted a similar valve. When the price for recharging began to match GSF's sphere price, I gave up.
