Xanita Sump -2 drainplugs?

Post by paulbx »

Xantia estate hdi 90

Folks

Did the usual oil and filer change this weekend (every 5,000) and for first time noticed TWO drainplugs on sump - one in the usual place and another about 3 cms above.

What's this for?

I believe it's for an oil temperature sensor Paul. Some high-spec Xantias had an oil temperature gauge.

My high spec VSX TD `97 had the oil temp gauge fitted in the dash clocks, but it still had 2 sump plugs fitted, one about 3 cms above the other. :? :)

I would have thought 3cms up the sump is not an ideal place for a temperature sensor. Could it be an overfill drainage hole?

Maybe its just a 'generic' sump to suit different applications?
