Exclusive front seat fitment - wiring questions

Post by jgra1 »

Chaps, I could do with a couple of pointers here :) sorry for the ramble.

2 problems,

Seat heaters dont work
Wires in exclusive seats dont match standard Xantia wires..

Ok, as some know I am trying to fit Series 2 exclusive seats in a normal LX series 2 car.

The LX has 3 plugs,
#1 - 2 thin wires - orange and green, terminating in a green plug (matching a green plug on LX seat) - assuming airbag

#2 - 2 thin wires - orange and grey, terminating in a brown plug (matching plug on LX and EXC), assuming Pretensioner

#3 - 1 thicker green wire with yellow dots (or other way around) - ends in a white plug, - assuming an earth

The exclusive has:
a brown plug identical to what the LX seat had... plugged that in no probs.

it then has a multiplug...
this has 2 thick wires, definately POS and EARTH for the main seat motors.. have wired these into a + - on car and seat moves fine...

it has three small wires, numbered for example 00 01 02.. the seat heater rheostat has the same 3 wires coming from it, so have wired these together.

then there are two medium thickness wires left over.. an orange and a yellow...

What could these be for? the airbag wires on the LX are much thinner gauge..

Finally , the seat heater rheostat has the 3 outputs, and what seems to be a thicker input.. if i put a + into this, the Voltage of the 3 outputs is approx. 0 / 12 / 12.5 /13 depending on where the stat is set, 0 1 2 or 3 .. but despite this no heat gets into either seat..

the wires left in the exclusive mulitpin have numbers and I will grab these at lunchtime..

well done if you have got this far.. !

Firstly the seat heaters rarely work on the drivers seat and even if they do you'll need the additional loom and switches for the centre console.

Orange wires are generally the belt pretensioners, I'll take a look at my cars when I get time and let you know. If I don't get back soon pm me as I'm busy with family issues at the mo.

thanks DG

yep omitted the fact I have both heater switches...also , tried, trying both seats, unlikely neither work..

ok since last night I have found the following:

Spare wires going into/out of Passenger Seat are
Yellow - M8310
and
Orange - 8350
Both about meduim thickness wires (maybe 1mm)
These both go live when I turn the seat heater from 0 - anything above that.. so must be realted to heating.... what do they do...

Three wires, ?8000 01 and 02 come from heater switches into seat (numbers are same at seat and switches, so have joined them up) Heater switch has a large (2mm) wire which I have fed 12+ into.. the three wires coming from switch measure 3 increasing voltages depending on whether you select 1 2 or 3.. Voltages around 12 for option 1, 12.3 for 2 and 12.5 for 3, approx

Drivers seat has four spares wires,
Yellow
M8315

Orange
8360

Yellow
M4730

Orange
4750 (thin)

Both seats I believe have pretensioners plugged in, by virtue of a brown 2 wire plug for each (which matches my spare pretensioner wiring)
