Xsara heater fan not working

Post by Angus »

Hi All,

I have a xsara td estate, the heater fan started opperating intermitently and has now failed completely.
I have taken the heater fan out and theres a 4 pin plug which has power across the two little presumably control wires but no power on the red and black, the fan if you diconect it from the power transister module works fine. So i think i have no power.
I have taken the ignition switch out and its not easy to check if its working but doesnt look to have got hot and doesnt smell burnt!
I have but will recheck fuses.
Does anyone know where i should be looking, or where the fan is fed from?

Thanks In advance
Angus

That looks again like our little darling … the ignition switch.
It will measure good with a multimeter or test lamp, but will not handle the high fan current, though can still be used to operate a modification relay as on the Xantia.
Best is to use another switch contact for the relay too, as explained in this topic:

Thanks, I spent some time on it today and it would seam to be the switch. I will look at the modification, but will just get a switch for now so it working again.
Thanks again
