Hi Folks,
Hopefully tommorrow I will be replacing one of my Xantia front strut top mountings, the ones where the front spheres attach themselves to.My existing one is on its last legs so to speak.
I remember reading here a while ago about a proceedure that some kind forum member put on here, on how to go about the job,but I dont remember the proceedure saying about replacing the lost LHM fluid that occurred upon dismantling. What i'm trying to say is...as soon as everything is back together with the new top strut mounting in place is it the case that you just refill the LHM reservoir with the correct level of fluid and carry out citrobics to purge the system of air or is there more to it than that?
All answers would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks in advance Steve :

Any time you work on the hydraulic system - such as removing a sphere, you will lose a small quantity of oil. Replacing a strut top will lose a quantity of oil too, so its normal practice to check the oil level and top up after any hydraulic work like this - it won't be specifically mentioned on how-to's on this forum, it's just taken as a given...
Just remember to check the float level with the suspension fully up and the engine idling for a couple of minutes
Regards,
Simon
