BX door hinge

Post by tomsheppard »

My brute has not yet rotted out the door pillar but the Driver's door has dropped. How do I pull the pin out. I am advised that this is a 2 part pin and that the inner bit comes out first. D'ya whack it, push it, pull it, unscrew it, bake it, break it or drift it? from above or below? I am also told that the brake caliper roll pin of a Vauxhall can be used to replace it. Why bother? Well, I am hoping to stop the car from leaking a bit...

I'm afraid I cannot help, Tom, but is this door thing a common Citroën problem? After my colleagues Saxo door fell off (mustn't laugh! ) I have been very careful with mine, ie. I don't leave the doors hanging open for periods of time. I figure that the hinge has got to be the weakest part, so why stress it unduly? Good luck with your repair!

I am afraid that it is a common problem; indeed if you are not unhinged when you buy a Citroen then you soon will be.
