Xantia heating

Post by wrinklet1 »

Ok, I thought I would start a new thread....
My heater isnt working on my xantia tdsx, it has climate control
Fan working ok, stepper motor moving,
But when I remove the stepper motor and try to move the 'socket' that the stepper cog goes into. I hear a flap fall or move. Can this become either dislodged or break? Does it also mean dashboard out too???
The matrix is ok and both pipes are hot

Answers please on a postcard

The flap shaft has a lever for cable operation on non-aircon cars, and a recess for the stepper motor cog on climate-controlled cars.
Without stepper motor drive or cable attached, the flap is loose.

Hi, the pollen filter is out at the moment.....
Clogzz, I think the problem may lay with the brass cog not locating properly into the the part thats in the vent housing, therefore the 'flap' is just moving loosely in the housing.
Therefore any ideas to get it aligned again????

Sorted.
I got the heating working again... whoopee
I got onto hands and knees, with a mirror and looked where the stepper motor fitted the heating flap. There was a space, so, then I started looking around for a part that may have dropped, lo and behold, one adapter, that had fallen off and gone under the carpet
pushed it into the flap hole , put the stepper motor into that and WARM AIR.....
Thanks Clogzz, the pix you posted helped.

Oops ! Had lost this topic, sorry for not replying to your previous post.
Nice to see the problem sorted, considering the weather.

The flap control looks like it’s been an area of problems and modification, with the original plastic cog breaking:

the cog on my xantia looks like it is made out of brass, it was the linkage between the cog and the flap that had dropped under the carpet ....!!
