Hi all,
My exhaust is making a load noise, I have looked at it and it seems like its from the manifold joint. When I looked closer, one of the bolts that hold the exhaust to manifold was loose. The nut was as tight as it could be.
Now I am wondering if there should be a form of gasket or seal between them both??? Any ideas and if so, do you know the part number please?

I think the answer is yes there should be a gasket. It is shared with the turbo to manifold joint so you have to take both off to replace it.
I'm not totally sure though as I've not really been down there yet and can't visualise it very well.
EDIT Ignore this, rereading your post I'm in totally the wrong place

If you mean between the manifold and the main downpipe, yes, there
is a fitting kit that includes the bolts/springs/washers and a wirewool
based donut ring that will take a large amount of space on the downpipe's
collar. Even the guys at GSF didn't know about this but it does the job,
and you'll likely have to hacksaw the old one off anyhow so you'll need
to use the complete kit:
N26000 EXHAUST FITTING KIT XANTIA 1.6/1.8/2.0 8V 15.00 Add
N26002 EXHAUST FITTING KIT XANTIA 1.9D FRONT (NOT TD) 13.00 Add
This job is actually one of my pet hates on a Xantia/XM
Fortunately, I've not had to change this on a TD yet, so can't say for sure
if there's such a thing on that system too!! There appears to be one listed
on the parts listing on here though:

just make sure you use the proper woven wire sealing ring not the one a lot of the cheap skate exhaust shops use, which is just a fibre one as this one breaks up in no time at all,
to disconect the old joint you will need the car up on ramps/stands and two 10mm spanners or one spanner and a long extention with a 10mm HEX socket and ratchet, not a hard job and there is quite good acces
