The voucher does say from £20. I phoned another branch this morning, said I had the voucher & what would be the cost, telling them my make & model.

Reply was £26 inc VAT + £10 if they have to remove & replace any plastic sump guard. No additional oil disposal charge.

I bought some Silkolene Ashford 15/40 from here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ thru' ebay at £25 for 10 litres inc. delivery.

I'm running the ZX (1.6i petrol) on Tesco 10/40 (£7.47 for 4 litres) at the moment, but I thought I'd splash out on something a bit better.

I went for 15/40 to see if it will slow the ZX's thirst for oil.......

It will also do for our other car which is an '89 Nissan Micra which has made me learn all about points and condensers at the side of the road!

My car doesn't like the tesco's 15W diesel. It's not so smooth running until it gets fully warmed up :(

I reckon thats the SVO not the engine oil

I used Tesco oil in my Montego for many 1000's of miles, had the head off twice, at 160k it still had honing marks. The actual oil is made by Carlube aka tetrosyl, nothing wrong with it all, the only problem with it is this time of year, mornings are getting colder, its quite thick at low temps, fine when up to temperature though but this is why i wanted to see if people have tried with different grades.

My engine still uses very little oil so going to a 10w 40 should not bring a noticeable increase in consumption and will help a little with mpg and smoother running when its really cold, as it takes longer to turn an engine over with a thicker oil than a thin one, because of the extra drag on the rotating parts etc.
