Xantia Auxilary belt

Post by PhoenixC »

Does anyone have a diagram showing the route of the drive belt for a 1999 Xantia 2.0 HDi 110 with air con, or at least explain the route it should follow
The belt had snapped on my fathers on Sunday. He has got a new belt (length 1755) but I cant seem to get it to fit, whichever way I try it seems slightly short.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Has it got an automatic tensioner? If it has it will need to be released before you can get the belt to fit. Sorry if I'm stating the bleedin' obvious but on my V6 it's not immediately apparent how it works. If you are cleverer than me and sussed it straight away then you might find that citroen.service has a picture on the website, and now it's a free for all it might be worth a look. :)
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

I know it has a manual tensioner between the crank and air con pulleys (hex key to unlock and square drive to tension) but I never thought it would have a automatic tensioner as well. However having a look at a picture of a 2.1 engine it shoews the same lower tensioner and an automatic upper tensioner so I will check that out tonight.
Cheers for the advice :)

This is the same setup for the later 1.9TDs too. Auto tensioner takes a quarter inch square drive into a hole at 8 or 9 o'clock (I think) - difficult to see even when you know it's there!
Pug Rifter long (20) - 41mpg - Gutsy for a 1.5!
Xantia 1.9 TD Temp.2 Break (97) - 208K@42mpg - Resting again.
Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16v (51) - 184K@36mpg - My shed! Still runs 15° retarded...

Cheers all thanks very much.
Got it sorted tonight when I finished work, I was trying the correct route last night but hadnt realised about the automatic tensioner (a torch certainly helps matters   )

Once again thanks for all assistance in getting this resolved
