Anyone have a Towbar picture..

Post by josamolly »

Having purchased a Towbar from a breakers i cannot work out how it fits. I suspect their are other parts from under the car that i haven't been sent!!!

I have a 'bulldog' towbar and was told it was off a 1994 Xantia. Mine is a 1996. It has 2 sets of electrics and looks fine.

However, its just a complete unit with 2 large bolts on a square plate... where does this fit???

If i could suss out how to upload a pic i would show you what i mean...

hi

try this link and download first picture :)
http://aolpictures.aol.co.uk/galleries/xantiapics

you can then zoom in and look at towbar tow ball has plastic cover on it
underneath ball is the "bulldog" bracket this plate is bolted between towball and towbar back plate with the two bolts

if you are missing anything else you should have the stabiliser bar try this link
http://www.towsure.com/category/7180-Le ... tabilisers

hope this helps

hi
just re-read your post looks like you have been sold the TOWBALL and electrics with the "bulldog" plate but not the TOWBAR which the TOWBALL fixes to :(

suggest you have a word with your breakers to see if they have the rest of it

You can get Whitter fitting instructions on the net. For the Xantia Mk1 Hatchback the file is http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/fitting ... s/c21a.pdf. For other models go to http://www.universaltowbars.co.uk/index ... t&catId=49, choose the car model, click on the towbar and click on Fitting Instructions.

This will give you an idea of what bits you should have...
Pug Rifter long (20) - 41mpg - Gutsy for a 1.5!
Xantia 1.9 TD Temp.2 Break (97) - 208K@42mpg - Resting again.
Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16v (51) - 184K@36mpg - My shed! Still runs 15° retarded...
