Hi folks. Could someone please have a look at these two photos and tell me if it's normal?
(1997 'P'-reg Xantia 1.8i LX hatchback)
In each case I have highlighted the part I'm interested in with a white outline. It's a metal D-shaped hoop.
Suspension set to lowest position:
...and the highest position:
The reason I'm asking about it is that the loop is open and appears to stretch and 'slay' apart when the height-selection lever is moved to the upper position.
I'm wondering if I'm looking at something which is about to break!
Does this bit of my Xantia suspension look right to you?

Ah, well then that's fine! Thanks
Height selection and raising/sinking is all working fine. The only reason I was taking a look is that the ride has recently got noticeably firmer and is kicking me up the bum on bumps, etc. So I've been doing some citrobics and spraying WD40 everywhere as a first port of call, before I spend money on parts.

Looks weird doesn't it - almost as if it is broken, but it's normal.
Provided it is maintaining the ride height accurately its probably just the spheres aging and losing gas - it creeps up on you at first and then over a relatively short time can start to get very obvious.

Simon
