sorry posted this in pug section by mistake
Hi hope somebody can help with some problems i have been having 1 problem is whenever i change my fuel filter it puts the engine managment light on and will stop dead after half a mile cure was to get fault codes wiped.does this every time even turning ignition on and off 10 times.
got a new pump fitted in the tank about 5 months ago
problem 2 the rattle on these engines between 2000 and 3000rpm has now got louder and now comes in at 1000rpm but still goes at 3000rpm you can here the noise all the time at any speed or gear ,like the tapets are needing done ,soon as you lift off the throttle it goes silent.and now sometimes when accelerating hard the managment light will come on,and will go into limp home mode.disconnecting the battery a couple of times will put it out 126000 on clock just passed mot last week no probs

Also have a look at the crankshaft pulley which has a nasty habbit of sounding exactly like the noise described.

Doesn't crank pulley rattle tend to be more noticeable on tickover though?
The fact that this happens only between 1000-3000 rpm, and is also dependent on throttle position rather than just revs suggests to me that its injection related. This would fit with the engine management light coming on and going into limp home mode under acceleration.

hi thanks for all the replies .i fitted a new pulley about 4 months ago after reading about them braking up .
the noise is not so much a rattle its like pinking like a petrol car.got the fault codes wiped today,car a lot quieter than it was pinking not as loud there was code 0191 according to the book its fuel rail pressure sensor CKT RANGE/PERFORMANCE ? is this the sensor on the fuel rail its self and not the one on the pump
and the other was for temp sensor.going to fit new aux belt auto tensioner as my one ticks when idling

Unless anyone else on here is able to give you any more help, you may be better trying on this forum;

There are a few PSA common rail experts on there, notably a chap called Cyril who knows just about all there is to know about HDi's
