Xantia Hdi electric window switch not working
The car is an x-reg xantia hdi estate. The door mounted switch for the offside passenger window has stopped working. The central switch opens/closes the window fine. I swapped the malfunctioning switch onto the nearside door, works fine. Incidentally the light in the switch doesn't illuminate either (when on the offside door, works fine on the other). Stripped back carpets and took off door card to view wiring, no obvious defects. Jiggled and wiggled... no improvements. Any suggestions would be most welcome, am off to France soon and kids would love the option of the odd lungful of fresh air... ':-({|='
I believe Xantiae have central fitted power relays to toggle the window motors up/down.
The control button switches then operates the relays - not directly the winder motors.
This in turn points to a broken wire from the offended door switch back through the door-to-pillar bellow wire bundle.
Fiddly job ahead

Success! Thanks so much Anders for your reply, it was a broken wire in the rubber boot between door and pillar, as you suspected. I stripped it out and then our local Citroen genius got to work.. found it in 5 minutes flat! I realised after I posted that my original query on the subject in February had been answered by you then as well Anders, so a double thank you.
Hope I'm allowed to do this, or perhaps there is another section of the forum for it, but if you're in the Wilts/Berks area, near Hungerford or Marlborough, then Mark Dunn's your man. Works out of a barn at the top of a windy hill, but he's passionate about Citroens and I can't recommend him highly enough. His mobile is 07974 379226.

Perfect timing! I have exactly the same problem. Time to get the door apart...
Here in Newport we have Citroen Services run by Chris. He works out of a tiny garage opposite our MOT station and is very, very good and highly recommended.
He will chat all day about hydraulic Citroens and is a goldmine of information and really friendly. He is a BX specialist.
Perhaps we could have a sticky thread for good garages?AndersDK wrote:Its perfectly allowed to submit name & address on garages which have done a good job 8)
