Hi,
I have noticed that the Oil temperature guage on the Xantia Activa ('96) that I have just bought reads only 50 degrees once the engine has warmed up fully.
What should it be really? And would I be right in thinking that this will mean repacing the sensor?
To which end, is it worth buying the XM Haynes manual? This appears to cover the petrol turbo engine; the Xantia manual does not.
Also, is there a good manual to buy covering just the suspension? Does it include the Activa??
Thanks a lot for your time,
simon

That reading sounds OK. You will find the temperature of the oil will rise or fall dependant upon the load put on the engine.
For normal driving that figure sounds fine, but on the motorway it should rise to between 60-80 degrees depending on your speed. Last week on a private test track, when I was cruising at 110mph, the temperature rose to 90 degrees.
